  • 2 teaspoon dark brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon fine ground coffee

  • 1 teaspoon dried ground thyme

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Small mixing bowl, measuring spoons, mixing spoon, airtight container or ziplock bag.

Prep: 10 min

Serves: 1/4 cup of dry rub

Before you handle any food, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Clean your kitchen work area and pull back your hair or wear a cap. You want to avoid contaminating your meal with harmful bacteria that could cause food illness.

To make Cowboy Dry Rub:

1. Add all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Stir and mix thoroughly.

2. Spoon and cover outside of meat completely with dry rub mixture. Rub into meat before cooking.

3. Preserve any leftover rub in an airtight container or ziplock bag.

Garlic powder is known to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, an anti-inflammatory, a reduced risk of cancer, and a stronger immune system. The caffeine and antioxidants in coffee grounds may help combat cellulite, under-eye circles and other signs of aging skin. Brown sugar does give you a dab of calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium.

For sugarless recipe, replace brown sugar with a brown sugar substitute.
